Common Questions and Concerns
What can I expect during my first session?
Our first session will typically be 60 minutes in length. During this time, we will begin to develop trust and safety as we work to get to know and learn about each other. I will ask you questions regarding your history as well as explore with you concerns, questions, and your goals/wants for therapy.
The intake process and assessment can take anywhere from 1 -6 sessions in order to get a full picture of your needs and how our work can be helpful to you. I encourage you during this time to ask me any questions regarding my experience, approach, and assessment of treatment needs and goals.
Following the assessment process, we will decide together if we are a good match and move forward with scheduling a standing appointment. Because I value the importance of finding the right therapeutic fit, I will help you with the referral process should we decide not to move forward.
How long does therapy take?
The time frame for the therapeutic process depends on several factors and is unique to every client.
At the beginning of our work together, we will discuss your goals for treatment and appropriate treatment modalities to accomplish these goals. Each session we will work to make progress while, at the same time, working to establish a trusting, safe therapeutic relationship. Because your progress will depend on your evolving needs, it can be unclear to determine exact length of therapy. We will work together to discuss anticipated treatment length during our initial session and throughout your treatment.
Do you offer telehealth sessions?
I offer both teleheath and in-person sessions for clients living in Massachusetts. For virtual sessions, I have a secure, HIPAA compliant platform for all of our sessions to ensure privacy. I also have health and safety measures in place for meeting in-person which we can discuss during your intake process.
Cancellation policy
Because consistency in treatment is important, I ask that clients cancel and/or reschedule their appointment with a 24-hour notice. If you do not show for the appointment or cancel with less than 24 hours, I do require payment for the session in full. No charge will be issued for last minute health and/or safety cancellations (i.e. car accidents, emergency room visits, inclement weather).
